Libreville, Thursday, May 11, 2023 (Infos Gabon) – The former mayor of Oyem was arrested yesterday Wednesday by the General Directorate of Counter-Interference and Military Security (B2) for an alleged embezzlement of 210 million F.
Dismissed from his functions as mayor of the commune of Oyem on May 6 during an extraordinary session of the Municipal Council, Christian Abessolo Menguey has been detained since yesterday Wednesday May 10, 2023 in the premises of the provincial branch of the General Directorate counter-intelligence and military security (B2). According to sources, he is accused of the distraction of a sum of 210 million F. The councilor of Oyem would have disbursed this money without the prior approval of the Municipal Council.
According to the person concerned, this money was used for the rehabilitation of the official tribune of the city. Work suspended on April 23, 2023 by the National Verification and Audit Authority (ANAVEA) arguing that a suspension had been ordered in order to provide more clarification on the release of this money.
