Fifty Galician municipalities on red alert

The Galician municipalities on red alert due to the incidence of covid-19 have risen this Friday to 50, when the Orense towns of Barbadás, Verín, as well as Neda and Cabana de Bergantiños, in La Coruña, enter the list.

Specifically, in the province of La Coruña, 18 municipalities remain in the red. These are Ferrol, Narón, Neda, Fene, Pontedeume, Oleiros, La Coruña, Cambre, Culleredo, Arteixo, Carballo, Malpica, Cabana de Berganitños, Vimianzo, Ordes, Santiago, Ames and Teo.

For its part, in Pontevedra, 21 municipalities remain at the highest alert level. Thus, Lalín, Vilagarcía, Cambados, Ribadumia, O Grove, Sanxenxo, Poio, Pontevedra, Marín, Moaña, Cangas, Redondela, Vigo, Nigrán, Baiona, Mos, Ponteareas, O Porriño, Salvaterra de Miño, Tui and A are in red. Guarda.

In Lugo, there are no changes and they continue in red, in addition to the city of the wall itself, Monforte, Viveiro, Cervo and Burela. The Ourense municipalities of Xinzo, Ourense, Ribadavia and O Carballiño are also kept in red, to which Barbadás and Verín are added.

According to the ‘traffic light’ map that the Health Department updates daily, the vast majority of municipalities in situation 3 due to the pandemic are located in the provinces of Pontevedra (21) and A Coruña (18), followed by Ourense (6) and Lugo (5).

The entry into the maximum risk level of all these localities implies that more than 21 cases of coronavirus were detected in the last seven days. However, in cities with more than 50,000 inhabitants, the threshold to detect the warning depends on the size: Ferrol –more than 76 cases in a week–, Pontevedra –more than 96–, Santiago –more out of 112–, Lugo –more than 112–, Ourense –more than 120–, La Coruña –more than 276– and Vigo –more than 332–.

Meanwhile, in situation two –in the orange color of the map– there are 24 municipalities, one more than on Thursday. In the province of La Coruña are Valdoviño, Mugardos, Ares, Betanzos, Sada, Cerceda, Ponteceso, Laxe, Zas, Santa Comba, Oroso, Boqueixón and Noia.

In Lugo, Palas de Rei and Chanada remain at this level, to which Guntín joins. In the case of Pontevedra, A Estrada, Cuntis, Caldas de Reis, Ponte Caldelas, Soutomaior, Gondomar, Tomiño and A Cañiña are in orange.

In the province of Orense there is no town hall in this color.
