Mayor Adams yesterday announced the redevelopment of a portion of Fifth Avenue. Viewing him, he says, will prioritize pedestrians, cyclists and public transport.
Under this new plan, automobile traffic would be reduced on the stretch of Fifth Avenue from Bryant Park to Central Park.
This effort is part of the plan, which Adams says is, “Make New York Work for Everyone,” and this was revealed last week with Governor Kathy Hochul.
The mayor’s office says the redesign is the result of years of studying that important city avenue and will hire a design firm in early 2023.
The vision and construction plans are expected to be completed in two years.
