Fifth Avenue Easter Bonnet Festival and Parade: A Peculiar Manhattan Tradition

Fifth Avenue is filled with extravagant hats in one of the city’s most peculiar traditions.

The annual Easter Bonnet Festival and Parade is back in Manattan.

New Yorkers flocked to Midtown wearing a variety of elaborate and ornate hats.

The event takes place on Fifth Avenue between 49th and 57th Streets, and the best places to watch the marchers is in front of St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

The tradition dates back to the 1870s.

Anyone can bring a hat and join the parade.
