The Boerenrockfestival in Drouwenermond celebrated its fifteenth edition last August. The event started as a small tent party next to the Gulle Boergondiër and grew into a multi-day festival that has attracted almost 50,000 people in recent years.
And that in a village with fewer than 500 inhabitants. It is a typical example of what a small village can be great at. Reporter Lidian Boelens followed the volunteers of the Boerenrockfestival last year.
Organizers from the very beginning Roelof Timmermans, René Boiten and Marjon Boiten tell their story. But volunteer Willem Veldman, better known as ‘Uncle Willem’ – of course a nod to ‘Aunt Rikie’ of the Zwarte Cross – also speaks, as do many others involved.
The documentary will be broadcast for the first time on TV Drenthe at 5:17 PM and will be repeated every hour from 7:17 PM. You can also watch the documentary below.
