Last Saturday, 15 construction workers at the Fire Station in China City fell ill, with severe stomach pain and diarrhea, to the point of being taken to a hospital. It is still being investigated what caused this discomfort. According to a statement sent to our editors, during the working day between 6:15 am and 8:00 am, after workers from the Design and Construction Department of the China City Fire Station had started their work routine.
The 15 individuals successively reported symptoms such as stomach pain and diarrhea to the project supervisor. At the facilities in that city, these workers reported feeling unwell and worrying symptoms, which led to the immediate transfer of seven to the Cacuaco Municipal Hospital, and another eight to the Capalanga Hospital. Immediately after the incident, says the statement signed by the spokesperson, Leonardo Cipriano, they suspended all construction activities at the said site for a period of 48 hours in order to conduct a thorough investigation to determine the causes of this incident.
“We are working closely with the Criminal Investigative Service to ensure that all circumstances surrounding this incident are clarified. The safety of our workers and the integrity of our operations are top priorities, and we will spare no effort to ensure that everything is clarified”, he guarantees.
