In the Opsporing Verzocht broadcast on Tuesday evening, special attention was drawn to people who know something about the car of the missing man or about an old telephone of Rachid Zaoudi, which was used two days after his disappearance to send a text message.

There are no really concrete new clues in the investigation into the missing Rachid Zaoudi. The then 36-year-old man disappeared without a trace in Amsterdam on December 5, 2013, where he had moved to. A signal was last received from Rachid’s telephone around 11 pm, near Schiphol and Badhoevedorp.

Strange text message

The detective finds a text message very remarkable that arrived on his mother’s phone two days after Rachid’s disappearance. It was sent with a phone number that Rachid hadn’t used for a long time.

The message was written in the Dutch language, while Rachid’s mother was illiterate and did not speak the Dutch language. The text of the message reads: ‘sorry mommy, I went to bed much too late, a bit drunk, sorry, now ill, I’ll make it up soon’.

Car away and back

During the weekend after his disappearance, the car was not in its usual parking lot at the Olof Palmeplein in Amsterdam. Four days after the disappearance, the car was suddenly there again. The police investigated the car for traces, but did not proceed.
