Fifteen Molfetta – Basketball Molfetta seeks continuity: with Francavilla the hunt is on for a trio of victories

Molfetta basketball seeks continuity: with Francavilla the hunt is on for a trio of victories. Today Gesmundo’s team will host the Brindisi team, the only one still unbeaten in Serie C. Start at 7pm

Julien Delmas

MOLFETTA – Molfetta Basketball is missing one place to complete the trio after the successes against Potenza (at home) and Brindisi (away). The opportunity, in the fifth round of the inter-regional Serie C, arrives on Sunday against one of the four pacesetters, Basket Francavilla, the only team still unbeaten: with the two points the Solimini club would complete the column of consecutive successes. A step in a long journey, at the PalaPoli, which however would represent a lot: with three clues there would be proof of a rediscovered continuity. Unknown continuity in this start to the season made up of two defeats and as many victories, the last one arriving on the pitch in Brindisi. «It’s true, we started badly, with two defeats – said Julien Delmas, French play-maker and guard -, even if with Monteroni we could have won. However, we managed to turn our performance around with two consecutive wins. And our last performance, on the Brindisi pitch – for the red and white athlete – showcased our solidity: in fact we resisted their comeback attempts twice”, until the final 78-81.
New perspectives for Molfetta. Coach Gesmundo’s team must find a regular pace. On the other hand, it didn’t take much for the Molfetta team to give themselves different prospects: the successes against Potenza and Brindisi changed the ranking, bringing the red and whites to 4 points behind the leading group formed by Foggia, Mesagne, Castellaneta and Francavilla. The Brindisi team, coached by coach Caforio and fresh from three victories in a row, has secured the performances of Floreani (22 points on average per game), a small forward returning from a season as a protagonist with the Canusium jersey. Also on the team is the Finnish Liukko, a 211cm centre, without forgetting the small forward Urso, the guard Madaro and the power forward Leo. In front there will be Clean Up Molfetta, waiting for the most important test: confirmation. “We want to win in front of our fans,” Delmas said. Finding continuity and filling the trio with successes would be fundamental. The event, visible live on the club’s YouTube channel, will be held on Sunday 3 November at PalaPoli. Tap-off at 7pm, gates open at 6pm. Ticket: 3 euros.
