To support the victims of the war in Ukraine, the largest radio stations are joining forces for the Ukraine 12-12 solidarity action. From the Groenplaats in Antwerp, Radio 2, MNM, Studio Brussel, Nostalgie, Qmusic and Joe make live radio for fifteen hours. They start at 6am until 9pm.

Throughout the day, various presenters, who would otherwise never make radio together, take place behind the microphone. Sven Ornelis (Joe) and Ann Reymen (Radio 2) start the company at 6 o’clock in the morning. Peter Van de Veire (MNM), Pien Lefranc (Studio Brussel) and Astrid Philips (Nostalgie) will also present. Closing is for the duo Bjorn Verhoeven (Nostalgia) and Ann Van Elsen (Joe) from 6 to 9 pm.

“During the live radio we call for deposits for the Consortium 12-12. This is possible via the website 1212.be. People can also send a text message, the amount of which – 1 euro – will go entirely to the aid organizations,” says Nathalie Delporte of Nostalgie. “But we also ask the listeners what they are doing to help Ukraine. The Consortium itself will explain what will happen with the donated amount.

Requesting pictures to collect money will not happen this time. Still, there is certainly room for music. Where the studio is located, various artists will also perform throughout the day. Niels Destadsbader kicks off there at eight o’clock in the morning. Also visiting: Laura Tesoro, Jaap Reesema & Pommelien Thijs, CAMILLE, Lize Feryn and Aster Nzeyimana (Robots from The masked singer), Bart Peeters, Meau and Novastar. Those performances will also be broadcast live via One, VTM and Play4.
