FIFA world rankings: Current rankings and changes
Despite decent match results, Germany lost one place in the current FIFA world rankings after a 3-1 win against the USA and a 2-2 draw against Mexico. Uruguay overtook Germany after beating Brazil in World Cup qualifying and a draw against Colombia. It should be noted that competitive games are weighted more heavily in the ranking calculation than friendly games. The strength of the opponent also influences the result, with Brazil, third in the rankings, earning more points than the USA in 11th place. Unlike the other European national teams, Germany does not play in a European Championship qualifier and therefore collects fewer points.
