The Associated Press reports that FIFA threatened to suspend the Brazilian team and all clubs from that country from international competitions after the Rio de Janeiro Court of Justice decided to remove Ednaldo Rodrigues from the presidency of the CBF.

“We would like to emphasize that if the CBF is suspended by any FIFA body, it would lose all its rights with immediate effect and until the suspension is lifted by FIFA. This would also mean that the Brazilian team and clubs could not be linked to any international competition during the suspension”, can be read in the letter that FIFA sent to the CBF, according to the same source.

At issue is also the fact that FIFA does not recognize the mandate of José Perdiz, who assumed the role of interim president of the CBF after the removal of Ednaldo Rodrigues.

It should be noted that Ednaldo Rodrigues was removed by Brazilian justice on the 7th.
