Club Sport Emelec faces a sanction from the International Federation of Associated Football (FIFA) that disqualifies it from signing players during the next two transfer periods. This measure is due to non-compliance with a ruling issued by FIFA, along with the payment of a fine of 10 thousand Swiss francs.

The team had recently managed to lift a previous suspension imposed by the Ecuadorian Football Federation (FEF) due to debts owed to Joao Rojas and LDU. However, shortly after the lawsuit filed by Colombian player Alexis Zapata against the club was made public, which triggered the new sanction by FIFA.

This situation poses a challenge for the team and its director José Pileggi, who will have to face the restriction in the transfer market and look for solutions to meet the club’s financial obligations.
