President FIFA Gianni Infantino said the 2023 U-17 World Cup will be held in the beautiful country, namely Indonesia. He also thanked President Jokowi and General Chair Erick Thohir.
This was expressed by Gianni Infantino when opening the drawing for the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Zurich, Switzerland, Friday (16/9) at 21.00 WIB.
“The first FIFA U-17 World Cup in Southeast Asia, hosted in a beautiful country [yaitu] “Indonesia promises a historic event,” said Gianni when opening the drawing for the 2023 U-17 World Cup, quoted on his Instagram page.
Gianni said this tournament was special because it would give young players their first experience of appearing on the global football stage.
“This tournament is special because it provides the first experience for the next generation of footballers to experience playing on the global stage and, from 2025 onwards, it will be held every year,” said Gianni Infantino.
“Like previous editions, Indonesia 2023 will inspire the stars of the future and give a big boost to the beautiful game in this country and region, as an inspiration to the younger generation, both women and men,” added Gianni Infantino.
Gianni Infantino also thanked President Joko Widodo and PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir because Indonesia was ready to host the 2023 U-17 World Cup.
“I would like to thank the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, the Indonesian government, PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, and all the teams hosting the 2023 edition of the U-17 World Cup,” said Gianni Infantino.
“This official drawing will determine the path to glory for the 24 participating countries. I wish all the best. See you again in Indonesia!” Gianni Infantino added.
The U-17 World Cup will be held in Indonesia from 10 November to 2 December 2023.
The U-17 World Cup will be held in four stadiums, namely Jakarta International Stadium (JIS), Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium, Surabaya, Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, and Manahan Stadium in Solo.
Meanwhile, the drawing results for the 2023 U-17 World Cup put Indonesia in Group A with Ecuador, Morocco and Panama.
Then Group B is occupied by Spain, Mali, Uzbekistan and Canada. Then Group C gave birth to a deadly group consisting of Brazil, England, Iran and New Caledonia.
Group D also gave birth to a difficult group, namely Japan, Argentina, Senegal and Poland.
Then Group E also contains a strong group, namely France, South Korea, the United States and Burkina Faso. Meanwhile, Group F is occupied by Mexico, Germany, New Zealand and Venezuela.
