FIFA pays RB Salzburg millions for World Cup drivers

FC Red Bull Salzburg can expect a shower of money thanks to Noah Okafor, Philipp Köhn, Strahinja Pavlovic and Luka Sucic participating in the World Cup.

FIFA pays clubs a release fee per day for each of their players taking part in the World Cup. This equates to 10,000 US dollars, the equivalent of about 9,600 euros.

In addition, clubs also receive a third of compensation for former players who have changed clubs since the 2020/21 season. For the “Bulls” it applies to Brenden Aaronson, Karim Adeyemi, Rasmus Kristensen, Gideon Mensah and Hee-chan Hwang.

Almost 1.6 million euros

Payouts began on November 6 and end one day after the last day of play. Whether a player is used during the tournament is irrelevant in the calculation.

While the finals were already over for the Serbian Pavlovic after the group stage and for the two Swiss Köhn and Okafor in the round of 16, Sucic is still represented with Croatia in the tournament. Although the Euros lost the semi-final of the World Cup against Argentina on Tuesday, Croatia are still playing the third-place match on Saturday.

This translates into a total of around 1,594 million euros for the Austrian champion of the series. Manchester City collects the most money (4,748 million euros), followed by FC Barcelona (4,329 million) and Bayern Munich (4,185 million).
