With just four matches to play, 12 referees remain until the end of the competition. The Argentinian Facundo Tello, referee of Morocco-Portugal, has been exonerated because, having reached the semifinals, they cannot be referees of the nationalities of the selections still in the competition.
Mateu Lahoz could continue in the competition, given that Spain have been eliminated, but this referee, criticized so much by Lionel Messi in the final of the Netherlands-Argentina, of the quarter-finals, also goes home.
Among the referees who remain in Qatar, it is already known that the Italian Daniele Orsato will officiate the Argentina-Croatia match.
