The International Football Federation (FIFA) has banned eight Brazilians who missed September’s national teams from starting Premier League weekend matches. English clubs did not release them to national team matches in the association term for pandemic measures in Great Britain.

According to FIFA rules, national federations may request the player to be suspended for five days after the end of the association period if the club does not release him for representation purposes. The distance refers to FC Liverpool (Roberto Firmino, Fabinho and Alisson), Manchester City (Ederson and Gabriel Jesus), Chelsea (Thiago Silva), Manchester United (Fred) and Leeds United (Raphinha).

Their Brazilian players will miss the weekend Premier League matches. In the case of Fred from Manchester United and Thiag Silva, the suspension also applies to next week’s duels in the Champions League.

Mexicans, Paraguayans and Chileans have taken the same step as Brazilians. English clubs did not allow South Americans to travel due to strict government measures. They impose a mandatory ten-day quarantine on each returnee from high-risk countries. The BBC website informed about it.
