FIFA has announced that Ecuador will participate in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, after rejecting the complaint filed by Chile, claiming that the nationality of the player Byron Castillo was counterfeit and that he was not qualified to participate with Ecuador in the South American qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.
FIFA explained that this decision was issued today, Friday, but is the subject of a final appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
Interestingly, Ecuador is in Group A of the 2022 World Cup alongside Qatar, the Netherlands and Senegal and will play the opening match against Qatar on November 20.
