FIFA Bans President of Ukraine From Spreading Peace Messages?

Doha

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky wants to spread a message of peace in the 2022 World Cup final. This intention has reportedly been banned by FIFA.

As CNN reported, Zelensky allegedly offered to appear in the video before the final match of the 2022 World Cup. The content of his message was to spread the issue of world peace. Ukraine is currently at war with Russia.

However, this intention was reportedly rejected by FIFA. According to a FIFA source, the parent of soccer wants the 2022 World Cup to be used for more important matters.

“We think FIFA wants to use its platform for the greater good,” a source told CNN.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said on Friday (16/12) that the 2022 World Cup must be free of any interest.

“We are a global organization and we do not discriminate against anyone. We stand up for values, we stand up for human rights and the rights of all people at the World Cup,” he said.

“Those fans and the billions who watch on TV, they have their problems. They just want to watch for 90 or 120 minutes without having to think about anything, just have some fun and get a little excited.”

“We have to give them time where they can forget their problems and enjoy football,” he said.

The 2022 World Cup final itself will bring together Argentina against France. The most important match was played at Lusail Stadium on Sunday (18/12/2022).
