FIFA authorizes AFF Cup at GBK, concerts don’t

Jakarta

PSSI General Secretary Yunus Nusi to make sure AFF Cup 2022 can be implemented in Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK SU). But not for concerts.

This was announced by Yunus, following the receipt of a response letter from the World Football Association (FIFA) received on Tuesday (29/11) at 20:00 WIB via email sent by the manager of the FIFA Men’s Tournament, Christian Schmolzer.

The letter says, if fifa after consulting with the field management he decided not to accept the given program, namely to hold two concerts. Because he’s going to interfere with the field training process.

“After consulting FIFA’s field management, we have to inform you that we cannot agree on the presented schedule. Holding two concerts with several days of setting up and tearing down the playing field activities, will definitely put a lot of stress on the field, which will prevent us from implementing a pitch management program according to plan,” reads the letter from FIFA.

“Given the significant investment that the Government has agreed to spend on providing high quality football pitches, it would be contradictory to allow this event to take place as close to the tournament as possible. We hereby kindly ask that you pass this input on to GBK Stadium Management. “

In response to this, Yunus confirmed that there was a reply letter from FIFA. However, he only explained that FIFA does not allow concerts, but for AFF Cup 2022 can be held at SU GBK.

“Yes, that’s right. It’s not a concert,” said Yunus detik Sports, Wednesday (30/11/2022).

“AFF Cup at SU GBK,” he continued.

Meanwhile, Menpora Zainudin Amali, when asked about his response regarding FIFA’s letter, admitted that he had received information from PSSI.

“I received information from PSSI, that FIFA has sent a letter to PSSI regarding the stadium. For more details, friends, go to PSSI because it has been widely disseminated. I don’t want to translate, interpret,” Gorontalo’s Menpora said at the Kemenpora office.
