On Thursday, the Syrian Football Association announced the arrival of a joint delegation from the International Federation (FIFA) and the Asian Federation of the game to Damascus, to study the possibility of lifting the ban on hosting matches in the future.
The delegation met with the committee in charge of following up on matters headed by Abdul Rahman Al-Khatib, Vice President of the Syrian Federation, and stressed the intensification of joint work with the Syrian Federation in order to follow up all the necessary steps and procedures in preparation for the possibility of gradually lifting the ban on the Syrian stadiums.
Al-Khatib affirmed that the Syrian fans, who are thirsty to follow and encourage their national teams and clubs, have high hopes for this visit, as a prelude to the possibility of lifting the ban imposed on Syria hosting international football matches 12 years ago.
It is noteworthy that the delegation’s visit lasts for three days, during which it is briefed on the security situation and the reality of the facilities in the city of Damascus.
