In the document, FIFA and Conmebol say that Perdiz “is insisting on holding elections within 30 working days” and requested the Court to appoint an interim board for the CBF. Therefore, the entities remember that their statutes oblige national federations to conduct their affairs without external interference, that is, from the Courts.
These are the two excerpts from the letter from FIFA and Conmebol threatening suspension for the CBF:
“As previously informed to the CBF, FIFA and Conmebol will dispatch a joint mission to Brazil during the week of January 8th to meet with those involved and examine the current situation and work together to find a solution to the current status of the matter with respect to the application of CBF rules and its autonomy. FIFA and Conmebol would like to strongly emphasize that, before this mission takes place, no decisions affecting the CBF, including any elections or scheduling of elections, should be taken If this is not respected, FIFA will have no option but to refer the matter to its relevant decision-making body for consideration and decision, which may also include a suspension.”
“In this regard, for the sake of order, we would also like to point out that if CBF were eventually suspended by the relevant FIFA body, they would lose all their rights as members with immediate effect until the suspension is lifted by FIFA. This it would also mean that CBF representatives and club teams would no longer be able to participate in any international competition while it is suspended. Furthermore, neither CBF nor its members would benefit from development programs, courses or training with FIFA and/ or Conmebol while this suspension is valid.”
The CBF intervenor, José Perdiz, spoke through his advisor:
“It is with satisfaction and respect that we received this new letter from FIFA. I see it as a positive sign that the entity is following the electoral process at the CBF.
