FIFA allows players to play for three clubs next season NOW

FIFA has determined on Thursday that players can temporarily play for not two, but three clubs in one season. The world football association wants to prevent the corona crisis from leading to unemployment next season.

Now that many competitions end on different dates, this can cause problems with player transfers. FIFA wants to solve that problem with the temporary measure.

The union further emphasizes that clubs may attract players during the current season, but that the acquisitions may only come into effect as of the new season.

Also, all FIFA affiliates are asked once more to expire players’ contracts until the end of the competition in question. The commitment at a new club will then not start as usual on 1 July, but later.

FIFA had previously responded to the corona crisis by allowing five substitutions in the leagues to be resumed. The association wants to prevent many players from injuries because of the busy program.

Many European top competitions continue despite the corona crisis. The Bundesliga has already played five rounds, La Liga will resume on Thursday evening and next week it will be the turn of the Premier League and Serie A.
