On August 12, Fif, through Sidy Diallo, suspended the Electoral Commission and decided to convene a General Assembly on the 29th of the same month. A decision does not please the “Renaissance” list carried by the candidate Didier Drogba. She made her voice heard through a statement from her campaign coordinator, Eugène Diomandé.

“We declare that this extraordinary Ag convened for August 29 is a null and void Ag and deemed non-existent. We also have the right to seize Fifa against the actions that we have denounced ”, he insisted. Before specifying the substance of his thought through several elements which underline the illegality of the activation of the Emergency Committee of Fif to suspend the electoral process on August 12, 2020 and convene an extraordinary General Assembly on August 29, 2020.

It is incorrect to assert that the duty of the Executive Committee is to ensure the conformity of the electoral process when the Election Commission does exist and is not in default. The Executive Committee is at the end of its mandate. If it is considered that the electoral process is in danger, then it is necessary to enter Fifa as provided for in the final provisions of the electoral code. Because it follows that only it can suspend or cancel the electoral procedure and / or appoint a provisional administration. Contrary to what it wants to make believe, the Executive Committee is no longer authorized to make use of article 36 of the statutes of the Fif and to convene an Extraordinary General Meeting ”.

For Eugène Diomandé, “the electoral process is underway. The Election Commission and the Appeals Commission alone are competent to hear questions relating thereto. Neither Sidy Diallo, nor an Emergency Committee, let alone the Executive Committee, have the competence to interfere in the domain of the Electoral Commission ”.
