(fue) The 21-year-old driver of a Seat Ibiza drove on Sunday, May 14, 2023 at around 3:50 a.m. on the A5 in the middle lane in the direction of Darmstadt. At the same time, a 58-year-old was driving his Hyundai i30 in the right lane in the same direction.
For reasons that are still unclear, the two vehicles collided just before the Nordwestkreuz and came to a standstill on the connecting lane to the A66. A fire developed in the engine compartment of the Seat, which destroyed the entire car. Firefighters were later able to extinguish the flames.
The 21-year-old driver was able to get out of the car in time and, like the 58-year-old, was unharmed in the accident.
