Minnekayev’s statement is one of the most detailed of Moscow’s latest ambitions in Ukraine and shows that Russia has no plans to halt its offensive there any time soon.
Minnekayev did not name names, but two major Ukrainian cities in southern Ukraine, Odesa and Mykolayiv, remain under Ukrainian control.
News agency Interfax and TASS citing him as saying that complete control of southern Ukraine would increase Russia’s access to the pro-Russian region of Transdniestria, which broke away from Moldova, which borders Ukraine and which Kiev fears could be used as a launching pad for new attacks against it.

Kiev earlier this month said that an airfield in the Transdniestria region was being prepared to receive planes and be used by Moscow to fly troops bound for Ukraine.
However, the Ministry of Defense and the Moldovan authorities in Transdniestria denied the allegations by the Ministry of Defense and the Moldovan authorities in Transdniestria.
“Control over southern Ukraine is another way for Transdniestria, where there is also evidence that the Russian-speaking population is being oppressed,” the news agency wrote. TASS,Friday (22/4/2022), quoted Minnekay as saying at a meeting in the central Sverdlovsk region of Russia.
Minnekayev was not said to have provided any evidence or details about the alleged repression.
