Fieldlab says that at the risk level ‘worrisome’, a hundred percent occupancy is possible at events under certain conditions. This applies to all events that Fieldlab has researched, including festivals, for example.

The government has set four risk levels: ‘vigilant’, ‘worrisome’, ‘serious’ or ‘very serious’. We are now still at the risk level of ‘very serious’.

What does that mean for the festival summer? The cabinet could give the green light on the basis of this research, says the Alliance of Event Builders, the umbrella organization for sports and entertainment events.

“The practical tests have shown that visitors are quite willing, for example, to participate in a (quick) test beforehand,” says a spokesperson. the event industry. “

In the current risk level, ‘very serious’, Fieldlab does not think it wise to organize festivals. Events where visitors normally do not have fixed seats could only be organized for a seated audience with a maximum occupancy of 50 percent.

Criticism of events

The Fieldlab project is a collaboration between the government, scientists and the events industry. The Fieldlabs’ test events did not go without a struggle. For example, there was criticism on the 538 Orange Day in Breda, where 10,000 visitors were allowed to attend. After a petition, that event became deleted.
