A bigger workshop to process more orders and apply new technology: that wish has just been fulfilled by Fico Belgium, a manufacturer of textiles and other materials for the medical industry.
Fico Belgium from Zonhoven has been supporting the medical industry for almost 25 years, such as rest cushions, weighted blankets, nursing blankets, sleeping bags and covers for massage tables. Everything is made in our own workshop, to meet the needs of end users.
Due to the need for more space and technology to further increase production capacity, we recently moved to a new building in Zonhoven. “A new chapter in the development of the company,” says Filip Frees, the second generation of managers at Fico. “The expansion will allow us to integrate advanced welding and tapping techniques that are specifically aimed at the medical sector and thus fit even better the strict requirements there.”

What specific technologies have been integrated into Fico Belgium’s new workshop to enhance production processes?
World-today-news.com: Hello, thank you for joining us today. Can you introduce yourselves and tell us about your roles in the expansion of Fico Belgium’s workshop?
Guest 1: Hello, my name is Filip Frees, and I am the Director at Fico Belgium. I am the second generation of managers here and have been involved in the company’s operations since its inception. My role in this expansion project was to identify the need for a bigger workshop and the integration of new technologies to improve our production capacity.
Guest 2: I’m Karen Vanthournout, the Production Manager at Fico Belgium. I have been working with the company for over 15 years and have played a crucial role in planning and implementing the new workshop setup. My main focus has been on ensuring that the new technology is effectively integrated into our production processes and that our team can adapt to the changes seamlessly.
world-today-news.com: That’s wonderful. Can you tell us more about the specific improvements made to the production process with this expansion?
Guest 1: Sure. With this new workshop, we have been able to increase our production capacity significantly. In addition to that, we are now able to apply new welding and tapping techniques, which are specifically tailored to the medical sector’s requirements. This will not only improve the quality of our products but also help us cater to the increasing demand from our customers in the healthcare industry.
Guest 2: Absolutely. The advanced welding and tapping techniques we have implemented are of higher quality and more precise, ensuring that our products not only meet but exceed the strict standards of the medical industry. This expansion also allows us to introduce more automation into our processes, which will increase efficiency and speed up the production timeline.
world-today-news.com: What prompted this expansion?
Guest 1: We have witnessed a surge in demand from the healthcare sector over the last few years. Our existing workshop could no longer accommodate the volume of orders we were receiving, and we wanted to ensure that we could meet our customers’ needs promptly. Moreover, we wanted to stay competitive and grow as a company. This expansion was a necessary step in achieving that goal.
