Ficarra and Picone behind the counter of Strip the news will miss a lot not only the public at home but also Antonio Ricci and Mediaset herself, who expressed all her regret and thanked the two comedians for the great success given to the program. “Mediaset greets and thanks Salvatore Ficarra and Valentino Picone who, after so many successful years running ‘Striscia la Notizie’, have decided to stop”, reads the press release issued by the company. And in particular, thanks to Ficarra and Picone came from Pier Silvio Berlusconi:
All our affection and esteem go to Salvatore and Valentino. Mediaset is your home: in addition to the hope to see you again in Striscia, as soon as you are ready with new projects we can’t wait to work together again.
The announcement of Ficarra and Picone
The hosts launched the announcement by surprise during the episode on Monday 30 November and they finally greeted the audience at home, after 15 years at the helm of Antonio Ricci’s satirical news. A decision that would seem definitive, next year they probably won’t return:“We do not exclude that sooner or later we can return but at the moment we pass the baton”, concluded Picone.
Today the last week of conducting Striscia has begun for us, which however – we must announce you – will also be our last year in Striscia. And we do not hide from you that after 15 years and 17 editions it is not easy.
Ezio Greggio and Enzo Iacchetti are back
The one that has just begun will be the last week for Ficarra and Picone at the conduct of Striscia La Notizia. The comic couple announced their farewell to the program after 17 seasons, unveiling it during the episode on November 30th. The last episode with the two Sicilian comedians conducting the program created by Antonio Ricci will be on Saturday 5 December. As already widely announced at the beginning of the season, from 7 December Ezio Greggio and Enzo Iacchetti will be back, once again together, in the running of the program, confirming still the longest-lasting association in the history of the program being the conductors who have often found themselves at the helm of the satirical news program.
