The Fiat Multipla is one of the most polarizing vehicles in history. The minivan, which was produced between 1998 and 2010 and lasted in China until 2013, is often cited as one of the world’s ugliest cars, but is praised for its innovative six-seat cabin layout.
To commemorate the 25th anniversary, Fiat is preparing a unique special edition with an imaginative design and a cartoon theme. The unique car will be sold as a collector’s item. The car will probably come from a restored copy of the original.
It will be called “Multipla 6×6”, but it will not be a six-wheeler, but a special edition on the theme of six cartoon characters. These creations are the brainchild of Robert Giollito, a multi-designer who currently heads the historical legacy department of the Stellantis concern. He revealed his latest creation through a series of hand-drawn sketches.

These six figures were originally created for the Italian MPV’s launch in 1998 to showcase the diverse characteristics of the target audience and highlight its unique 3+3 seating arrangement. Caricatures driving their own multiple can be found in the special on the hood and sides, while they also appear individually on the seats.
In the first row we find an adventurer driver, an attractive female passenger and in the middle a little racer. Second-row passengers include a businessman on his laptop, a meditating monk and a hippie relaxing thanks to individually reclining seatbacks.
The Multiply 6×6 body is painted in a special light blue color called Bio Turquoise in combination with the light gray-white shade of the originally unpainted bumpers, moldings and wheels. The interior theme uses the same scheme for the doors and dashboard, with contrasting dark blue fabric seat upholstery.
The special anniversary car has only been shown in sketches as the actual model is currently in production and will be on display at the Auto Classica Show in Milan from November 17-19. After that, the one-off model will be offered for sale as a collector’s car.
During the announcement of the one-off special, Giollito described his creation as “too advanced and innovative to pass up”. The designer added that there are clubs today that restore multiples to their original specifications because people seem to understand them better now than they did back then.
