And after the 100% electric model, the Fiat 600 becomes hybrid. At the presentation of the battery-powered B-SUV, the car manufacturer had already made it known that a hybrid version would also arrive and will be available on the market in 2024. Now, Fiat has revealed all the features of this new model which will be marketed in “those few countries where the transition to electric proceeds more slowly“like theItalia. Olivier FrancoisCEO of Fiat, explains:
Our strategic vision remains completely focused on electric and the fact that the 500e is the best-selling BEV city car in Europe fuels our determination to pursue and make electric truly accessible to all. However, we will also remain relevant in those countries such as Italy, our domestic market, where full electric has not yet really taken off. Therefore, for these selected countries, together with the new 600 full electric, we will offer a high-performance hybrid that will hopefully open the doors to a more electrified world.
THE ENGINE
The Fiat 600 Hybrid can count on a Mild Hybrid powertrain made up of a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine capable of delivering 100 HP combined with a 48V lithium-ion battery and the new 6-speed dual-clutch electric gearbox which includes the 21 kW electric motor, an inverter and the central transmission unit.
According to the car manufacturer, in normal driving conditions, the engine is designed to optimize consumption and save up to 15% in CO2 emissions compared to a combustion engine with automatic transmission. Fiat estimates emissions of between 110 and 114 g of CO2 (data still in the approval phase). Speaking of performance, the Fiat 600 Hybrid is capable of acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 11 seconds.
Although it is officially a Mild Hybrid powertrain, it still allows the B-SUV to be able to move even in electric mode for short distances and at low speed. According to Fiat, you can travel with the internal combustion engine off for up to 1 km at a speed of less than 30 km/h. Thanks to the support of the electric motor it was possible to optimize the operation of the endothermic one, especially in the restart phases, attenuating the “turbolag” effect and guaranteeing prompt reactivity when pressing the accelerator pedal.
PRICES
The Fiat 600 Hybrid has no particular aesthetic differences compared to the 100% electric version. The interior does not change either. However, it should be emphasized that the hybrid version can count on a slightly larger trunk (385 liters).
New 600 Hybrid will be available on the Italian market with a price list starting from 24,950 euros. Thanks to the launch offer, it can be purchased from 19,950 euros in case of scrapping and financing. This model offers customers two connected service packages: Connect One and Connect PLUS.
The first, included with the purchase of the vehicle, offers both assistance and emergency call services, but also information by providing monthly data on the health of the vehicle. The Connect PLUS pack is designed to make the driving experience both on board and remotely more comfortable. It includes navigation services, features to remotely manage the vehicle via the Fiat app, to monitor driving style and more.
