At the beginning of this year, Fiat drew the curtain on the all-new 500e, a compact electric city tractor that, just like the older 500, next to which the model can be found in the showrooms, is laced to the smallest fiber with retro design. The new electric Fiat 500e is available as a regular three-door Berlina and as a homeless 500e Cabrio, but there is more in the 500e barrel. Fiat presents the 500e 3 + 1, an electric 500 with an extra door on the passenger side.
The Fiat 500e 3 + 1 is touted by the Italians as a more practical variant of the 500e Berlina, intended for young families, among others. The extra door on the co-driver’s side should make entry to the rear easier. Something special is going on with the short door. If you look closely at the 500th 3 + 1 in these photos, you will undoubtedly see that a normal door handle is missing. The rear door can therefore only be opened when the normal door on the passenger side is opened. The back door then opens ‘wrong’ and can thus be classified as a true one suicide door. In a recent past it was the previous generation Mini Clubman that had a similar extra door on the passenger side. The 500e 3 + 1 is no longer than the normal new 500e’s and is therefore also 3.63 meters short. Definitely not a large hatchback, but the new 500e is almost ten centimeters longer than its older namesake with (mild-hybrid) combustion engines. The arrival of the extra door has resulted in a weight increase of 30 kilos compared to the normal electric 500’s.
500e 3 + 1 La Prima
Just like the previously presented body variants of the new 500e, the 500e 3 + 1 also makes its debut as a lavishly decorated and chic La Prima. This introductory version is available in Rose Gold, Glacier Blue and Onyx Black colors and includes full LED headlights, special 17-inch alloy wheels and various chrome accents. The seats, the steering wheel and part of the dashboard are covered with imitation leather. More pampering comes in the form of six-way adjustable front seats and a 360-degree camera. The 500e 3 + 1 La Prima must also be able to keep itself independently between the lines on the highway thanks to an extensive package of safety systems. Also standard: the 10.25-inch large infotainment system and an inductive charger for your phone. Just like the regular new electric 500e’s, the 500e 3 + 1 will also be available in the Passion and Icon versions.

The Fiat 500e 3 + 1 as an introductory version La Prima costs € 37,900. That is of course not the absolute starting price of the Fiat 500e 3 + 1. That is namely € 30,600. For that amount you get the Passion version that directly has the 118 hp and 220 Nm strong electric motor and the 42 kWh battery pack. You should be able to achieve an electric range of 320 kilometers with it. The additional price compared to the closed three-door 500e is therefore € 2,000. The 500th Convertible is € 1,000 more expensive. One step above the Passion is the € 32,600 Fiat 500e 3 + 1 Icon. Entry-level Action, with a 95 hp electric motor and a 23.8 kWh battery pack, is reserved for the 500th Berlina, the regular three-door hatchback with fixed roof.
