“Do you have a hidden camera?” asked Norway’s national coach, Stalle Solbakken, when he learned which players had been called for the standard anti-doping tests before the Nations League matches.
Among the names were Erling Haaland, Jørgen Strand Larsen, Antonio Nusa, Oscar Bob, Einar Gudersen and Jurgen Juve. With the difference that the last two, legends of Norwegian football, have been gone for decades.
THE Jurgen Juveall-time leading scorer with the Norwegian national team with 33 goals died in 1983 in age 76 years oldwhile o Einar Gudersen passed away 1962, as the Norwegian notes The online newspaper.
“After all that we had to call the country’s Anti-Doping Agency,” noted the Solbakken speaking to reporters. “They would probably take the top scorers list by adding other names afterwards,” he added.
“However, they both had… negative tests,” the Norway coach said in reference to Juve and Gudersen, drawing laughter from the press room.
The Norwegian Anti-Doping Agency made no secret of the fact that a major mistake had been made, but could not give a convincing answer as to how it happened…
“The fact that a major mistake was made should concern us. It doesn’t necessarily feel good to say what happened, but we definitely have to select the players more carefully from now on,” Norwegian agency spokesman Halver Byfuglien told Nettavisen.
