FIA warns Max Verstappen for unsportsmanlike conduct

Max Verstappen and his team were given two minutes to complete the remainder of the third free practice session after Logan Sargeant’s crash. Enough time for a single installation-lap and a number of test starts. Verstappen was eager to drive another lap and made his way through all the traffic in the pit lane. The FIA was not pleased and warned the Netherlands by means of the black and white flag.

Logan Sargeant ruined the final free practice for Max Verstappen – the Dutchman had not yet set a time when his American colleague caused a red flag. Sargeant put his Williams on the exit of the Hugenholtz corner into the wall, damaging the guardrail. With only two minutes left on the clock, the session resumed.

Max Verstappen wanted to make the most of the last seconds of VT3; when exiting the pit lane he first shot Oscar Plates past to then also George Russell to give it a look. His RB20 did cross the white line. The FIA did not leave it at that and waved the black and white flag. Max Verstappen was therefore warned for ‘unsportsmanlike conduct’.
