FH JOANNEUM starts the new academic year with Student Plus

FH JOANNEUM is starting the 2024/2025 academic year with 5,100 students, including around 2,000 new students, at the three locations Graz, Kapfenberg and Bad Gleichenberg. There is news regarding the range of courses and the infrastructure.

The management of FH JOANNEUM, Corinna Engelhardt-Nowitzki and Martin Payer, are pleased about the high number of young people who have decided to study at FH JOANNEUM: “The future university FH JOANNEUM offers all students a practice-oriented, interdisciplinary education, that should bring joy and meaning.” With 28 bachelor’s and 25 master’s degree programs, FH JOANNEUM is the third largest university in Styria and is therefore also achieving an increase in the number of first-semester students.

Neu: Startup Hub und Learning Design Lab

Since this winter semester, the new Startup Hub has been available free of charge to students and interested parties for networking and developing creative business ideas. Another new infrastructure is the “Learning Design Lab”, a video and podcast studio at FH JOANNEUM Graz, which is used specifically for the digitalization of teaching.

More study places in health studies and funding opportunities for health and care

In 2023, the state of Styria decided to increase the number of study places for health professions, particularly in the area of ​​medical-technical services (MTD). As a result, a total of 40 additional study places in particularly popular bachelor’s degree programs will be available at FH JOANNEUM from the start of the 2024/2025 winter semester. Twelve additional new students are now starting in the bachelor’s degree program “Radiology Technology”, there are eight additional places in “Speech Therapy” and “Occupational Therapy”, seven in “Dietology” and five additional places in “Biomedical Analytics”.

The “Health and Nursing” course is also being expanded. For career changers who are studying “health and nursing” at FH JOANNEUM, the Public Employment Service (AMS) now also offers a nursing scholarship of 1,400 euros per month. But all other “health and nursing” students also receive a training contribution from the state of Styria of 600 euros per month.

More flexible forms of study in Bad Gleichenberg and a completely renovated canteen in Kapfenberg

In order to give students maximum flexibility and the best possible integration of their studies into their everyday lives, the Institute of Health and Tourism Management in Bad Gleichenberg offers the master’s degree program “Health, Tourism and Sports Management” with the study areas “Health Management and Public Health”, “Quality of Life and Sustainability”. in Tourism” and “Sports and Event Management” now part-time. Access to the master’s program is open to graduates of a wide range of bachelor’s programs at various universities and colleges with degrees in tourism, health, leisure, sport, exercise, events, economics and social sciences who want to further their education and specialize in the field of management.

At FH JOANNEUM in Kapfenberg, students and employees have been enjoying the newly designed canteen since this semester.
