FGR processes extradition of Kamel Nacif, from Lebanon to Mexico

The General Prosecutor of the Republic (FGR) located the businessman in Lebanon Camel Nacif Sponsors, known as the King of Denim, who is required by the First Unitary Court for the crime of torture against the journalist, Lydia Cacho.

Given this, ministerial sources reported, the FGR, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), began extradition procedures before the Asian country.

This Friday, the Attorney General of the Republic, Alejandro Gertz Manero He participated in a radio debate with the researcher, Eduardo Buscaglia, in which he revealed that one of those involved fled to Lebanon, hinting that it was Kamel Nacif.

“We already have one of the criminals in jail, another fled to Lebanon where we have an extradition process and the third … we have made all the efforts and tasks that we can do …”, he indicated.

In April 2019, the First Unitary Court with residence in Quintana Roo issued an arrest warrant against the businessman Kamel Nacif, as well as against the former governor of Puebla, Mario Marín, for the crime of torture, thereby revoking the decision of the Second District judge of the entity, who had denied issuing the court order.

That same month, elements of the Federal Ministerial Police arrested the former director of the Judicial Commandments of the Puebla Police, Juan Sánchez Moreno, implicated in acts of torture against the journalist Lydia Cacho.

Sánchez Moreno was located in the municipality of Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico, and the First Unitary Court of Cancún, Quintana Roo, issued an arrest warrant against him for the crime of torture. He was director of Court Orders during the Mario Marín administration (2005-2011) in Puebla.
