The concerns from the film industry and from broadcasters and streaming providers about the amendment to the FFG, which were brought to the attention of members of the Bundestag’s Culture Committee on October 7th, have apparently had an effect. Due to the need for advice and improvements, the final discussion of the law in the committee, originally planned for October 16, was postponed indefinitely. However, things will be exciting for the Cultural Film Funding and the Future Cinema Program on October 14th. The committee discusses the BKM’s budget. The cinema industry hopes that the planned increases in the budget of Minister of State Claudia Roth will remain in place and that the future cinema program will be backed by a budget again. That would be a first step. The wishes of the representatives of the Culture Committee must then be approved by the Budget Committee in the adjustment meeting and decided on by the Bundestag.
