Feyenoord has made the return of Bart Nieuwkoop official. The team from Rotterdam takes over the 27-year-old right back from the Belgian Union St. Gilles. Nieuwkoop signs a new contract with Feyenoord until the summer of 2027.

According to the latest reports, Nieuwkoop’s lump sum payment is around 3.5 million euros. At the beginning of the week, Nieuwkoop’s return suddenly became news. At first he was to be brought in as a replacement for Lutsharel Geertruida, but Nieuwkoop made it despite the collapsed transfer of the defender. The right back will compete with Marcus Pedersen next season who will become a permanent fixture in that position.
Before Nieuwkoop left for Union, he played in Feyenoord’s shirt for no less than six years. With the club he became national champion in 2017. The defender was still rented out to Willem II in the meantime. In total he has already played 81 matches in the shirt of Feyenoord. In 2011, the team from Rotterdam took over him from the youth of RBC Roosendaal.

Nieuwkoop also had a successful period in his time at Union St.Gilles. When the left back came in, the team had just been promoted.
