Sixteen-year-old Taryck Tahid will come to the Netherlands in January to do an internship at Feyenoord, 1908.nl reported on Friday. Canada’s youth international is known as one of the greatest talents in his native country. Tahid is under contract with Vancouver FC, where the left winger is already part of the club’s main squad.

Tahid prefers to play his matches from the left flank, but can also play as an attacking midfielder or right winger. The lightning-fast winger currently plays his youth matches for Canada, but could also play for Ghana in the future. Despite his age, Tahid has already shown himself well in the Canadian Premier League.

The attacker has so far played 551 minutes for Vancouver FC, spread over twenty appearances. Tahid was already accurate in this three times. In Canada it is expected that the winger can become one of the trendsetters of the national team in the coming years. Tahid was recently active at the Under-17 World Cup in Indonesia, but Canada did not progress beyond the group stage.

The right-footed left winger will initially do an internship at Feyenoord, which plans to sign him. It is unclear how long Tahid will remain in custody in Vancouver. The further question is which team the Canadian will join during his trial period from January 8. Tahid previously interned at New York Red Bulls, FC Midtjylland and Villarreal.

Canada
In the past, Feyenoord had already signed a Canadian talent with Jacob Lensky. However, the former midfielder failed to break through at De Kuip, after which he left for FC Utrecht. Lensky was a starter in the cathedral city for two seasons, but then his playing career and personal life went painfully downhill.

Sparta midfielder Jonathan de Guzmán, born in Toronto, Canada, was a greater success at Feyenoord. The right foot came to the Netherlands in 1999 and eventually played 128 games for the Stadium Club, scoring 26 times and providing 23 assists.

However, De Guzmán made himself less popular at Het Legioen when he left Feyenoord on a free transfer for RCD Mallorca in 2010. Abroad, he became an international for the Dutch national team, with whom De Guzmán played at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
