Feyenoord has strengthened itself for a season with the Gambian Yankuba Minteh. Newcastle United has bought the attacker from the Danish club Odense BK, but he will immediately leave for Rotterdam on a rental basis. From July 1, he will join the team of trainer Arne Slot.
Minteh therefore plays for one season in Rotterdam. Newcastle United paid seven million euros to Odense BK to take him over, but he will not play for the English club this year. Last season was his first year with Odense, they took over the Gambian from Steve Biko FC from his native country. At the age of eighteen he was already with the national team of Gambia.
“I am looking forward to playing for the reigning national champion,” Minteh said via the club website of the Rotterdammers. “It is an honor to wear the Feyenoord shirt. I am grateful for this opportunity and will do everything I can to improve as a footballer. I am sure that Feyenoord will help me achieve my goals, just like I I am convinced that I can help Feyenoord in its sporting ambitions.”
Minteh started in the youth of Odense BK, but after only two matches for the U21 team he was brought into the first team. In total, he scored four goals in seventeen games and provided six assists. Minteh is known as a very fast and agile player who can play on both the left and right winger. For the left leg, the right side is his favourite.
