Feyenoord Prepare New Contract Offer for Goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther Amid PSV Interest

Feyenoord are within a bet of a longer stay for goalkeeper Timon Wellenreuther. The German is out of contract in a year, but the club would like to add something to him. The Rotterdammers are preparing a new contract for the 1.88 meter tall goalkeeper from Karlsruhe.

The goalkeeper came over permanently from RSC Anderlecht less than a year ago, after initially loaning Feyenoord from the Belgian club. He got a permanent contract after Feyenoord purchase option of one million euros. When he was allowed to take charge, Wellenreuther left a good impression in his first two seasons.

PSV is great interest in Wellenreuther and he was already looking for some rapprochement with the team of players, but the Eindhoven team is only expected to become concrete when the first goalkeeper Walter Benítez is sold. There is no movement around the Argentinian at the moment. The upcoming national champion will see his first goalkeeper in Wellenreuther.

It remains to be seen whether Feyenoord can convince Wellenreuther to renew his contract by at least one year. The German was beaten in the final tournament match and saw Justin Bijlow rise again in the pecking order. Wellenreuther himself sees his chances of being the first goalkeeper: if he is not at Feyenoord, he will aim to move out next summer.

The 28-year-old visitor saw his market value at Feyenoord, assessed by Transfermarkt, increase from eight thousand euros to six million euros. He has already played thirty-nine official matches for Feyenoord, in which he managed to keep a clean sheet fifteen times. It remains to be seen how contract developments will continue, but Feyenoord at least have a new deal lined up for Wellenreuther.
