Feyenoord is organizing a party in Glasgow, in collaboration with De Noordzijde and Rotterdam Radicals, for the Feyenoord supporters who have traveled along. Aboutaleb is not happy with this decision, because the leaders of both supporter groups were in the news this year for misconduct, it reports Algemeen Dagblad.
Feyenoord will play its last Champions League match of the season against Celtic next Wednesday in Glasgow. Both clubs have already been eliminated from the prestigious Billion Ball and only play for honor and a bag of money.
However, this is no reason not to organize a big party for the loyal supporter who follows Feyenoord everywhere. The party, which is organized in collaboration with the two supporter groups, is deeply regretted by the mayor of Rotterdam. “It is understandable that Feyenoord is committed to the supporters who go to Glasgow, but it is regrettable to do so through the aforementioned supporters’ associations. Feyenoord should distance itself from that.”
Feyenoord responds in writing to Aboutaleb’s statements. “We do not tar everyone with the same brush and therefore do not exclude entire groups. Maintaining a constructive conversation and listening to each other is the wisest thing to do, as a recent supporter survey commissioned by the municipality of Rotterdam has once again shown.”
