Feyenoord misses four youth players at training camp due to corona infection | NOW

Feyenoord traveled to Germany on Friday without youth players Marouan Azarkan, Achraf El Bouchataoui, Ian Smeulers and Jordy Wehrmann for a training camp. The foursome remains behind in Rotterdam because of a positive corona test with the promises.

One of the four players has the COVID-19 virus among the members, but Feyenoord does not want to take any risks and therefore decided to leave them all at home. It is not known which player is infected with the corona virus.

Due to the absence of Azarkan, El Bouchataoui, Smeulers and Wehrmann, the selection of Feyenoord for the training camp consists of 22 players. One of them is Steven Berghuis, who did not play a practice match in the preparation. Tyrell Malacia and Luis Sinisterra are recovering from injuries, but are also in the selection.

Feyenoord will start the training camp on Saturday with practice matches against Borussia Dortmund and MSV Duisburg. The team of trainer Dick Advocaat then travels to the south of Germany for friendly duels with Arminia Bielefeld and Hamburger SV in nearby Austria.

So far, Feyenoord played two exhibition games in the preparation. The team from Rotterdam won 3-0 against Sparta Rotterdam and played a scoreless draw against FC Twente.

Feyenoord starts the new season in the Eredivisie on Saturday, September 12 with an away match against PEC Zwolle.
