Feyenoord is going to report for striker Wilfried Gnonto, reports 1908.nl. The 18-year-old striker has to come from FC Zurich, where he is still under contract until mid-2023. Transfer market expert Gianluci Di Marzio indicated this week that the striker prefers a top competition to a transfer to the Eredivisie.
PSV, Ajax, TSG Hoffenheim and a number of Italian clubs also showed interest in the striker. SC Freiburg from Germany reportedly currently has the best papers to sign the Italian. Gnonto came over from the O19 from Inter on a free transfer in the summer of 2020 and made an impression in Switzerland in particular last season. In 36 games, he scored ten times and provided five assists.
The Italian can also handle many positions; mainly as center and shadow striker, but also on the flanks. He already has four A-caps for Italy to his name, in which he scored once. The market value of Gnonto is estimated at ten million euros.
Feyenoord and Frank Arnesen had to look for new strikers this summer. With the departure of Cyriel Dessers and Bryan Linssen, Danilo was already taken over from Ajax on a free transfer and now Gnonto must also be brought in. Earlier this week, Mats Wieffer was taken over from Excelsior, while the arrival of Ian Maatsen also seems only a matter of time. Calvin Stengs must also be rented from the French OGC Nice.
