Feyenoord is in talks with Georginio Wijnaldum (32) about a return to De Kuip. According to Football Insider the national champion is even negotiating a transfer that should take place next summer.
Wijnaldum is still with Paris Saint-Germain until mid-2024. That club rented him to AS Roma after a disappointing debut season last year, but the midfielder’s Italian adventure did not go crescendo either. A tibia fracture, suffered in training early in the season, kept him off the field for months. Roma would therefore not be convinced enough to want to activate the purchase option worth 9 million euros this summer.

A return to his actual employer in Paris therefore beckons, but the chance seems so small that Wijnaldum will now have a chance in the French capital that the club would be open to a summer departure. It was previously reported that he can return to PSV, the club that took over from Feyenoord in 2011. Wijnaldum has been abroad since 2015, where he successively played for Newcastle United, Liverpool, PSG and most recently AS Roma.
Wijnaldum is currently preparing with the Dutch national team for the final round of the Nations League. Croatia is the opponent in the semi-final on Wednesday; that match will be played in De Kuip. It will be the second time in a short time that Wijnaldum returns to the stadium where he made his debut in professional football in 2007 at the age of 16. With AS Roma he lost 1-0 in the first leg of the Europa League semi-final, but with a 4-1 home win, the Romans eliminated the Dutch champion a week later.
