Arne Slot is one of the three coaches in the picture at Tottenham Hotspur, but Feyenoord only seems to let the coach go for a large amount. Valentijn Driessen, De Telegraaf’s football chief, even mentions ‘Nagelsmann and Potter amounts’.
Tottenham are looking for a new manager after the sacking of Antonio Conte. The Telegraph reports on Tuesday evening that Slot is now one of the three candidates. The coach of Feyenoord has been carefully linked to the English club in recent weeks. However, Feyenoord can ask what it wants for the coach. Slot has a departure clause in his contract, but it will only take effect from 2024.
De Telegraaf expects Feyenoord to want to get a record sum for Slot anyway. Last winter it rejected an offer of five million euros from Leeds United, while Barcelona made Ronald Koeman the most expensive Dutch coach ever with the same transfer fee. Bee Inside today Driessen even goes one step further. “They go a bit for the Nagelsmann and Graham Potter amounts. I think Slot can be picked up for fifteen to twenty million.”
Next summer it will become clear where Slot’s future lies. The success coach now has a contract until mid-2025 in De Kuip. De Telegraaf is not sure whether Feyenoord will really be able to receive a mega amount for Slot. ‘The only question is whether Slot’s stature is already such that foreign clubs want to go that far. He has no international experience outside of the European matches with AZ and Feyenoord.
