Feyenoord Coach Arne Slot Considers Premier League Interest and Future Plans

Arne Slot does not yet know where his future lies. The Feyenoord coach responds to the interest from the Premier League and acknowledges that he could have left for Leeds United last winter.

“I think that at some point there will come a time when you as a trainer will also look abroad,” says Slot in Mirror Talk from ESPN. The coach does not yet want to say whether that moment has arrived next summer. “It could of course be that that moment is already in the summer. There are always clubs that can come by that – if it’s up to me – you can’t say no to.”

Leeds offered Slot the chance to start in the Premier League during the winter break, after manager Jesse Marsch was sacked. “I think Leeds is a very nice club.” But: “The moment in the middle of the season, when you still have so much to play for at Feyenoord, I didn’t think it was a good time to leave for England.”

“It was also much better from a family point of view to stay here for a while,” Slot explains. The trainer emphasizes that he dreams of one day working in a top competition. “The Premier League is of course the number one competition in Europe. Although I also follow developments in Italy with great interest. Spain remains an attractive competition with FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.”

Slot cannot say with one hundred percent certainty that he will still be active at Feyenoord after the summer. “No, but I think it is very valuable to leave somewhere in a positive way. Giovanni van Bronckhorst became champion and a year later his life didn’t look so nice anymore.”
