Feyenoord coach Arne Slot is in the running to succeed Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool. According to Slot, Feyenoord and Liverpool are currently negotiating his release.
Arne Slot (45) confirmed to ESPN before Feyenoord’s match against Go Ahead Eagles that he hopes to succeed Jürgen Klopp at Liverpool.
“The clubs are negotiating. I’m waiting to see what comes out. It will be no secret that I would like to go to Liverpool. Now I’m waiting for the clubs to reach an agreement. I have every confidence in that.”
Slot led Feyenoord to the national title last season and was previously linked to Tottenham and Leeds. The Dutchman is under contract until 2026 and a departure clause is not provided until 2025. That means Liverpool are negotiating with Feyenoord about his release this summer.
Dutch Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk already said that Slot would fit the club’s philosophy and described him as “one of the better Dutch coaches of the moment”.
Klopp has led Liverpool since October 2015, but announced that he will leave at the end of this season.
