Feyenoord and Head of Academy Rini Coolen to part ways after this season

The collaboration between Head of Academy Rini Coolen and Feyenoord will end after the current season. The club and the current head of youth academy have decided this in good consultation. The 56-year-old Coolen has been working at Varkenoord since mid-2021 and will be looking for a new challenge for the new season.

In recent months, constructive discussions have been held about how Feyenoord Academy could be organized in the near future. The different insights that emerged from these conversations led both parties to decide to part ways after the season.

“I have experienced an incredibly wonderful period here and am proud that I have been able to contribute to the development of players and coaches in recent years,” said Coolen. ‘I wish all coaches and players the best, and hope that this wonderful club will continue to grow and prosper in the near future.’

Feyenoord in turn thanks Coolen for his efforts and contribution to the various innovations implemented at Varkenoord. “Rini was involved in the implementation of the current training and education program,” says general manager Dennis te Kloese. ‘Under his leadership, cooperation with the first team has further improved and a number of players have been able to transfer to Feyenoord 1 in recent seasons.’

Coolen will retain technical responsibility at Varkenoord until June 2024. Feyenoord will be considering possible succession in the coming period and how Feyenoord Academy will be managed from the 2024-2025 season.
