In February, the number of unemployed in the city of Freiburg and the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen fell. The rate is now 3.5 percent.
The number of unemployed in the Freiburg district of the Employment Agency fell in February. On the reporting date, a total of 13,110 women and men were unemployed in the city of Freiburg and the districts of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald and Emmendingen. That is 423 fewer than in January. According to the agency, this is the largest fall in a February in the past 20 years. The unemployment rate is now 3.5 percent; for women and men under the age of 25, the rate remains unchanged at 2.2 percent.
The agency reported 6,210 unemployed for the urban district of Freiburg, which is 353 fewer than in the previous month and 18.5 percent fewer than in February 2021. The unemployment rate in Freiburg fell by 0.2 points to 4.9 percent.
It is gratifying that the long-term unemployed have also benefited from the positive development, says Andreas Finke, CEO of the agency. Their number has fallen by more than eleven percent within a year.
The positive trend on the labor market is confirmed by the demand for labour. The manufacturing industry reported job vacancies at a record level. Demand also increased in other areas, especially in health and social services, trade and administration.
