Overall, fewer Dutch people died in traffic accidents last year, the figures show. In 2020 there were 610 fatalities, 51 fewer than the year before. The number of deaths is the lowest since 2015.
The vast majority of the 610 road casualties were male: 453 men were killed in an accident in 2020, compared to 157 women.

Last year, there were no fewer than 229 fatalities in road accidents among cyclists, just 26 more than in 2019.In the past 25 years, never as many cyclists were killed as in 2020, even though the road was less busy due to corona for long periods. One third of the victims were on an e-bike at the fatal moment.
North Brabant
Last year there were fewer fatalities in traffic among motorists. The number of deaths decreased most among people in their twenties, thirties and over 80s. The most traffic fatalities occurred in North Brabant, but at the same time there was the largest decrease compared to last year in that province.
